Autism - National Autism Strategy

Following the Autism Act 2009this document will open in a new window, the government has published 'Fulfilling and Rewarding Lives': the strategy for adults with autism in England (2010).

The Government's vision is that; "All adults with autism are able to life fulfilling and rewarding lives within a society that accepts and understands them.  They can get a diagnosis and access support if they need it, and they can depend on mainstream public services to treat them fairly as individuals, helping them to make the most of their talents."

In December 2010 the Department of Health published statutory guidancethis document will open in a new window on implementing 'Fulfilling and Rewarding Lives' for local authorities and NHS organisations to support the implementation of the autism strategy.

In Adult Services, the Cumbria Autism Partnership Board (CAPB) has been set up to be a decision making body which will share information and develop a strategy to improve services for people on the autism spectrum in Cumbria.
