Mental Health Problems - Assessment under the Mental Health Act 1983

These are special assessments for people whose mental health has led to crisis situations which need the powers of the Mental Health Act to ensure care, treatment and sometimes safety are provided. A specially trained social worker called an Approved Social Worker  will do this assessment alongside a Doctor and a Consultant Psychiatrist. The Approved Social Worker will tell you about the assessment, what it is for and your rights.
