Mental Health Problems - What help is available from Cumbria County Council?
We can arrange many different services for people with mental illnesses who are assessed as needing them. These services may be provided directly by us or by other organisations. Services can be combined to meet people's needs and can include:
- Information and advice - We can tell you about help available and where you can get it.
- Day care - This is usually provided away from home, at a day centre or hospital. There you have the opportunity to meet others and take part in various activities or therapies.
- Home care - Care provided at home can help you in different ways including personal care and practical help (such as shopping and preparing meals).
- Meals - Meals on wheels can be delivered to your home and, in some areas, we can provide frozen meals which you heat yourself.
- Social work support - We may keep in touch with you on a regular basis because your illness means you need ongoing support. This may include help with a wide variety of things such as planning your day and running your home.
