This conference for providers of social care for adults in Cumbria was held on 10 August 2007 at Carlisle Racecourse. The conference was a new venture for care services in Cumbria, and the plan is that it will be an annual event.
It emerged from some work by a small group of providers of social care in Cumbria with Jill Stannnard, Corporate Director, Adult Social Care, to explore how to improve partnership working. This group felt that a conference, once a year, to get all providers together and share good practice would be of benefit. The aims of this annual conference, which was called “Connected Care”, would be to:
The focus of this year’s conference was about excellence in practice, and the programme was a mixture of service users views (via DVD presentations), showcase workshops from providers, and presentations about key issues from Adult Social Care. Several providers also set up display stands so that more informal sharing of good practice ideas could take place.
