Cumbria County Council's Adult and Local Services ran a LGB&T survey asking for people's views on accessing services and what makes this a good experience. We did this to help us understand more about lives and concerns of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (transsexual people).
A report has been produced based on the findings of the survey and can be accessed using the link below:
Based on the findings of the report, please find below some information on what the Council is doing and will do about the issues raised within the report:
Navigation around the website will be looked at and ways of improving to ensure links to relevant information is available and easy to find
The report will be forwarded to the organisations mentioned in the report
The Council works with OutReach Cumbria who represent people who are LGB&T
Work will be carried out in Children's Services with regards to bullying at school
Our Equality Scheme, Equality for All, sets out our target for all staff to have been trained by attending face to face engagement sessions, Managers Training by Equality Works or via an e-learning programme
Awareness of how to report prejudicial incidents is raised through the training programme
Through Equality for All work will continue to raise awareness to help with understanding so people feel they can be open about their sexual orientation within the workplace and not feel like it will effect their job/position at work
Through the procurement process and contract monitoring, we ensure that organisations we contract with have all the relevant policy and procedures in place and staff receive Equality and Diversity training
