About Adult Social Care - services from others

Registration of services

The Care Quality Commission registers and inspects residential and nursing homes.  The Commission can provide lists of registered services and also copies of reports of inspections of these services.

Lists of residential homes and other services can also be obtained through Customer Services and on this website.

Other things we cannot help with:

  • money, grants and benefits - this is done by the Department for Work and Pensions;
  • housing - the Housing department of your local District Council and, in some areas, Housing Associations provide council housing and accommodation; and
  • health related equipment, such as wheel chairs, walking sticks, commodes and incontinence aids are all provided by Community Health Services and can obtained through your GP or district nurse.

If you are unsure who provides what services, please contact Customer Services at your local Cumbria County Council Adult Social Care office.  We will do our best to advise you of where to seek the help you need.
