Why do people need information and advice?
We recognise that many people in need would benefit from information about the help available to them. Usually, no one organisation can provide all the help a person in needs. People’s needs may be met from a collection of different services and support from a number of different organisations. Information and advice can help them to get in touch with all the sources of help they need.
Where do I get information and advice from?
In Cumbria County Council Adult Social Care, people contacting us for the first time can get information and advice from Customer Services. Customer Services can:
Customer Services can also arrange for you to have an assessment of your needs from a social worker or occupational therapist. During your assessment, your social worker or occupational therapist can provide you with further information and advice.
What information is available?
Cumbria County Council Adult Social Care have a range of information leaflets and booklets available. These can be provided in other formats such as tape or braille on request.
Customer Services also maintain an extensive directory of organisations on computer. The directory has details of over 1300 local and national organisations. Customer Services can provide you with lists of organisations from this directory on request. They can also provide you with a printed directory of services which lists the main services available to adults in Cumbria. Lists of services for children are available from the Children’s Information Service.
