Copeland lies on the west coast, with two-thirds of the borough in the Lake District National Park. Mountains and fells are complemented by sandy beaches and rugged sandstone. Copeland has a population of about 72,000 and around 40 per cent of its workforce are employed in the nuclear industry and manufacturing.
