A non-means tested bursary is available to social work students who are not funded by an employer. The bursary will be part of a national scheme administered through the GSCC.
The rates will be at least £3000 per year, plus tuition fees for those students who do not receive them from Local Education Authorities or employers. This includes a flat rate allowance of £500 per year to meet the cost of travelling to practice learning settings. The award will be higher for those living in London and lower for those living at home.
Postgraduate students will be able to apply for a larger bursary; however, a portion of this will be at the basic non-means tested rate, with the balance subject to means testing.
All bursary enquiries should be made through General Social Care Council, by telephone: 0207 397 5835 between 10.00-12.00 or 14.00-16.00, or email on info.bursaries@GSCC.org.uk.
