Social Work
Cumbria County Council staff from Adult Services and Children’s Services can apply for limited secondment places onto the Social Work Degree.
A number of options for study are open to appropriately qualified staff, either through Open University, Lancaster University or St Martins College, Carlisle (Lancaster and St Martins hold further entrance interviews).
Occupational Therapy
Full and part-time staff at Cumbria County Council can apply to be seconded onto an Occupation Therapy degree course with agreement from their line managers.
The seconded member of staff will attend St Martins University for 4 and half years and carryout 1000 hours of fieldwork with qualified therapists. Cumbria County Council will pay the university fees and the employee will receive a wage. Upon completing the degree that staff member will be required to stay in employment with the council for an agreed period of time.
