Your social care records - Can I see everything?
- Only you will be allowed to see your records. You can give your permission for someone else to see your records on your behalf.
- You will be able to see paper records we have kept from 1 April 1989 onwards. You will not have the right to see paper records from before this date until October 2007. However, we will try to help you with specific requests for information where we can.
- You will also be able to see computer records.
- Where adults are unable to exercise control over their records through disability or mental illness, applications for access can be made on their behalf by a person acting under an order of the Court of Protection or acting within the terms of an Enduring Power of Attorney.
- You can see information recorded by staff from Cumbria County Council's Adult Social Care and Children's Services directorates and also the former Cumbria Social Services department. You can also see records kept by other organisations where they are providing a service to you on our behalf.
