Nursing Home Care - Where does nursing home care come from?

In Cumbria, all nursing homes are run independently of the National Health Service and local council.  Nursing homes include those run as private businesses and those run by voluntary organisations and trusts. 

All nursing homes in Cumbria are registered and inspected by the Commission for Social Care Inspection.  However, some homes provide both residential and nursing care for different residents and are registered by the Commission for Social Care Inspection to provide both services. 

Lists of registered nursing homes can be obtained from the Commission for Social Care Inspection  and Customer Services at your local Cumbria County Council Adult Social Care office.
