The Community Occupational Therapy Service is run by the Adult Social Care service within Cumbria County Council’s Adult and Local Services Directorate.
Occupational Therapy is concerned with everyday activities of life, enabling disabled people to participate in their local communities and overcome lifestyle limitations resulting from their disabilities.
We primarily provide assessments to disabled people living at home. We can assess for and arrange disability equipment and housing adaptations to promote the independence of people with a range of disabilities.
There are also Occupational Therapists employed by the National Health Service. These therapists are employed to enable people to be safely discharged from hospital. They can also provide rehabilitation, either in hospital or in the community.
Where necessary our community occupational therapists will work together with NHS therapists to provide seamless care.
