The Family Forest is a family and social history, telling the story of many Lakeland families over several hundred years. Parish constables were ordered to send in returns listing the names and occupations of the members of every household in their area. This publication presents of thousands of names (fully indexed) surviving from this unique 'census', mainly covering North Westmorland.
