EASTER CLOSURE:   Carlisle Record Office will close at 5pm on Thurs 1 April  and will re-open as normal at 9.00am on Wednesday 7 April 2010

Carlisle Record Office - will close EVERY FRIDAY from 20 November 2009.
This is to enable staff and volunteers to focus on the essential work behind the scenes preparing for the removal of millions of unique historic documents from four separate buildings in Carlisle into their new home at Petteril Bank in south Carlisle. The Carlisle Record Office will start to move to these new purpose-built premises in April 2010 and at some point after that will close the old site permanently.  For approx. 6 months the record office in Carlisle will be closed entirely.  Please keep in touch with staff there for the latests details.

The Record Office will still offer a normal service Mon-Thurs, and alternative provision will be available at local libraries and other Cumbria Record Offices. We apologise for this inconvenience but hope you appreciate it will help us deliver a better archive service in a better facility. More details are available about this restriction and the alternative services we can offer users.
