Cumbria County Council’s Community Regeneration Fund is available to support emerging/developing social enterprise initiatives, intermediate labour market and new deal projects. The fund acts as a catalyst for attracting or complementing other resources from the public, private and voluntary sectors, to support local regeneration by creating opportunities for employment and increasing the employability of people who are having difficulty in finding work.
Through the management of the fund, Cumbria County Council supports a wide range of initiatives that are committed to regenerating the local economy. This includes increasing the level of entrepreneurial activity within Cumbria and supporting the increasing value of tourism to the economy. The fund supports projects that assist in the renewal of the most disadvantaged communities, have a direct input in improving the local environment, increase the skills level within the workforce, support the most vulnerable members of society, and improve the sustainability of Cumbria’s communities. Priority is given to projects that will create additional sustainable jobs in areas with high levels of unemployment.
Cumbria County Council are currently experiencing extremely high demand for the Community Regeneration Fund and are receiving expressions of interest at an unprecedented level. The fund is likely to be significantly oversubscribed this year. To ensure that all applications are considered fairly we are proposing to have a limited number of grant panels at which a number of applications will be considered. We are also reviewing the criteria for the fund and updating the application form to assist the Panel to decide on the most appropriate projects to fund.
Submission of the Registration of Interest Form will allow us to review proposals at an early stage and advise on the application process.
We will update this site with the dates of panels and updated papers in due course.
