11 MILLION Takeover Day

11 MILLION is a national organisation led by the Children’s Commissioner for England, Professor Sir Al Aynsley-Green. It organised the first ever 'Takeover Day' on Friday 23rd November 2007 to prompt children and young people to be invited to take over activities and services delivered by a wide range of organisations. The campaign’s aim is to ensure that the views of children and young people are routinely asked for and listened to.

A wide range of organisations in Cumbria including Connexions, the Police and the county council's Children's Services Directorate took part in events prompted by Takeover Day.

The County Council launched its new website for 13–19 year olds (24 years old if they have learning difficulties) on Takeover Day.
