Children with disabilities

We have teams of social workers and family support workers who specialise in working with children with disabilities.  We work closely with colleagues in other organisations such as the health service, schools and voluntary organisations to coordinate the services provided to your child.

We work with children and young people who:

  • are under 18 years old; and
  • have a disability which means they need additional care above that which would normally be required for a child of the same age, and which cannot be provided by the services currently available to the family.

We believe that disabled children are seen as children first but acknowledge that their disability may result in additional needs.  The outcomes we aim to achieve for all children are:

  • being healthy;
  • staying safe;
  • enjoying and achieving;
  • making a positive contribution; and
  • economic well-being.

We will work with the child, their family and other agencies with the aim of meeting these needs.
