What do I need to do before I apply for a secondary school place?
Before you apply for a secondary school place it is important to read the information provided by the Local Authority.

How do I apply for a September 2008 secondary school place?
Remember that the closing date is 19 October 2007. This deadline is very important. Every parent of a child resident in Cumbria needs to make an application by this date, even if the preference is for a place at a school outside Cumbria.
You can complete the application form contained in the information pack 'Transfer to Secondary School in Cumbria' and return it to your child’s current school. If your child is not attending a school maintained by the Local Authority, you should return it to the School Places Team. A copy of this application form can be downloaded using the link below:

What information do I need to apply online for a September 2008 secondary school place?
Before you can make your application online, you need the four digit DCSF establishment number for each of the three schools you are applying for and the three digit Local Authority (LA) reference number for the area in which they are situated. For Cumbrian schools, these can be found in the school list in the information pack 'Transfer to Secondary School in Cumbria'. If you are applying for a school place in another area, you can contact the Local Authority concerned.
