Everyone has a responsibility to protect children from harm.
Some children can be at risk of neglect, emotional harm, physical abuse and sexual abuse in any environment including with close family members as well as strangers.
If you feel that a child or young person is in imminent or immediate danger and in need of protection please call the police on 999.
If you think a child you know is being harmed or at risk of being harmed, please contact Cumbria County Councilís Childrenís Services who you can talk to about your concerns. They will give you advice or may investigate the circumstances. All calls are treated in confidence, callers donít need to give their details and whether you are a member of staff or a member of the public we take all calls seriously. The phone line is in operation 24 hours a day.

Calls between 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 4:30pm Friday will go direct to the central triage team for action. Emergency calls during evenings and weekends will be answered by the emergency duty team that can be contacted on the same number.
