A proposed strategy for the future of Cumbria's primary schools was approved at a meeting of the county council's Cabinet on 10 June.

Thousands of Cumbrian children will be able to travel to school in a safer and healthier way thanks to dozens of road safety improvements.

The proposed academy for Barrow has received approval today (May 12) from the Department for Children, Schools and Families.

Foster carers throughout Cumbria will now have access to increased support and advanced training thanks to new foster care standards.

The first of the government's new 14-19 Diploma courses for Cumbrian learners will be up and running in September as planned.
