The Childcare Act 2006 places a duty on local authorities to ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, that provision of childcare is sufficient to meet the needs of parents in their area, in order for them to work or undertake education or training.  This document is a summary of Cumbria's Childcare Sufficiency Assessment.
