Local Partnership Groups

The county is divided into five areas based on current working relationships between secondary schools.   Each area has its own Local Partnership Group.   For information on the membership and schools involved in each LPG, follow the links below.

The main job of an LPG is to look at a wide range of information and use it to make suggestions about options for change. Options would then be reviewed, and possibly amended, by the School Organisation Forum and by Cabinet, before being publicly consulted upon. The data that the LPGs will look at includes:

  • Details of current schools
  • Predicted numbers of future pupils
  • How well pupils are doing at existing schools
  • Whether schools have budget difficulties
  • Distances from other schools
  • Transport costs and traffic impacts

Some of the questions they will be trying to address could cover issues such as:

  • What kind of schools should there be in the future?
  • How many schools are needed?
  • Where is the best place for these schools?
  • What size should these schools be?
  • What are the needs of the local community?
