Traded Services for Schools and Academies

We offer a wide range of high quality, professional services which offer value for money to schools and academies in Cumbria, from across Children’s Services and from other parts of the Authority.

A lot of services are provided free of charge to schools through County Council funding, including those in place to meet our statutory responsibilities, together with core provision designed to help achieve our priority outcomes for children and young people.  In addition, a number of services are available on a traded basis through service level agreements or ‘pay as you go’ purchases.

Music Service

Instrumental and vocal tuition, curriculum support and Wider Opportunity Programme, teacher ensemble visits (Music Awareness Programme), music-making opportunities for young people, plus an Instrument Lease Scheme.

Outdoor Education

Promoting personal and social development through experiential learning in the outdoors, offering a wide range of facilities and venues, activities from kayaking and rock climbing to orienteering and walking, and project work including living history programmes, health & well-being and environmental awareness for all ages, tailored to suit everyone`s budget and need.

Health & Safety Services

Two core services available to purchase for academies are our General Health & Safety Services, and Outdoor & Experiential Learning and Educational Visits Advisory Service, including access to the EVOLVE website, and practical support for emergencies and serious incidents.
