Student Support Services

Student Support Services is part of Admissions and Student Support within Cumbria's Children's Services Directorate. Student Support provides financial assistance to children and young people in Cumbria to cover additional costs of education. 

Student Support Services manages a range of support services ranging from free school meals to higher education student support.

Boarding Grant Scheme
Assistance for pupils of statutory school age who may wish to attend a publicly funded boarding school.  Applicants must satisfy qualifying criteria.

Higher Education Funding
Student loans and tuition fee support for full-time and part-time higher education students.

Travelling Expenses - Assistance
Travel passes for students under the age of 19 who are attending a local college.

Trust and Other Funds
Student Support Services administers trust funds that offer young people a small financial award based on qualifying criteria.
