County council achieves triple awards for skills

Cumbria County Council has won three major accolades for improving the skills base of its staff and partners.

Following a rigorous external assessment process which also recognised the role of partner organisations, the council was presented with the three awards at the prestigious North West Employers Awards Ceremony held at the Lowry Hotel, Manchester on Friday (July 2nd). Cumbria picked up the Skills Award, the IDeA National Excellence Award and the Get On Local Government Award.

Presentations from award winners took take place throughout the day and the council produced a short DVD (below) which told the story of the council’s journey from 2004 to the present day.

Cllr Liz Mallinson, Cumbria County Council's Cabinet member responsible for organisational development, said:

"We're proud of the investment we put in our people and I'm delighted that the council has been recognised on a national platform for all its hard work. We've come a long way since 2004 in building the skills base both within our organisation and among our partner agencies."
