You said… Help us make our community somewhere we can all be proud of.
We did… Supported the community on a range of projects that aimed at making their area an even better place to live.
Residents in Harraby are being asked to dig out their photos of the area for a time capsule celebrating the last 50 years and more of life in the area.
The Harraby Time Capsule project is a partnership between Harraby Library, run by Cumbria County Council, and the Harraby Together We Can project.
Harraby Together We Can is a scheme which brings together Cumbria County Council, Carlisle City Council, police, NHS and Riverside Housing Association. It is all about listening to resident’s views on the improvements they want to see in their community and making them happen.
So far the scheme has included projects ranging from a community gala and other social events for young and old, to community clean up initiatives and much more.
The time capsule project will aim to remember the history of the Richard Rose Academy which is moving from Harraby to the City Centre later this year.
Anyone with photos which illustrate the history of Harraby, including street parties, the coronation, Gala Day and jubilee celebrations should take them to Harraby Library, call 01228 607 341, or email: harrabytogetherwecan@hotmail.co.uk. Photos will be scanned into a digital format and returned safely to their owner.
