Forum grant supports Appleby fire and light extravaganza

Eden Community Outdoors is an Appleby based charity that works with children and young people in the area to help increase their environmental awareness, experience the outdoors and get creative.

The organisation applied for a grant from the Upper Eden Neighbourhood Forum to enable them to hold the 7th annual Appleby Fire and Light show, a spectacular event which is open to all and which was also supported by a small grant from Cumbria Constabulary.

The event was held on Halloween, giving young people a fun and safe way to spend the evening.

Peter Bradbury, Chief Officer at the charity says: “The Neighbourhood Forum grant of £475 has been a great help to us in hosting the show.  It paid for the equipment for the show itself and also meant we could hold lantern making workshops   More than 500 people turned out from all over Cumbria, with some from as far as the West Coast, so it was a real success.”
