In towns and villages across Cumbria, residents are getting involved in a county council scheme which is helping make communities safer, stronger and cleaner.
The project, called Together We Can, sees the County Council work alongside district councils, Cumbria Constabulary, NHS Cumbria, housing associations and voluntary and charity organisations to listen to and act on residents' views about the improvements they want to see.
Together We Can schemes vary to suit the local community. Many see representatives from all the organisations involved going on a ward walk – going door to door to speak to residents and find out more about that they like and what they don’t about their neighbourhood.
Community events ranging to coffee mornings, grots spot clean-ups, councillor drop in sessions, exhibitions and games for younger residents help bring the community together and enable local people to find out more about the services that are available to them.
Together We Can events are organised by the county council’s community unit area support teams. For more information about your local team and upcoming events in your area, please use the menu to the left.
