We support the delivery of money advice in Cumbria through a contract with Citizens Advice Cumbria. This is a three year contract which runs until September 2010.
Each CAB offers a ‘drop-in’ service where volunteer staff (support advice workers) can see clients with relatively simple debt problems. They can help to advise on priority and non priority payments and if required, they can refer someone on to CAB’s Money Advice department or equivalent. In dealing with people with serious debt-related issues CAB advisors focus on two key areas:
On receipt of a referral, clients are added to a waiting list and are given a self-help list of where they can start to help themselves and they can advise their creditors they are waiting to see the CAB.

is available in 7 languages.
