What is being done to develop the Cumbria LINk
Cumbria CVS want as many people as possible to be able to say how they want the LINk to be structured and how it will work.  They have contacted key stakeholders to inform them about the LINk and to ask them what they expect from it. This information will be used to prepare a draft structure for the LINk and invite any interested parties to a workshop event on 30th June (details, right) to work together to review and make changes to the draft structure. This will be used to prepare and circulate a public consultation document that is based on sound views and opinions.

Key Stakeholders:

  • Former Patient and Public Involvement in Health Forum Members
  • LINk Transitional Steering Group
  • NHS Organisations
  • Adult Social Care
  • Overview and Scrutiny Committee and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Committee
  • Cumbria Action for Health Members
  • Cumbria Third Sector   Infrastructure Forum
  • Local Strategic Partnerships
  • Health and Social Care Regulators

The Public Consultation will run from early July to the end of September when the Cumbria LINk will begin its work.

A conference to mark the launch of the LINk will be held on October 22nd  2008, this event will also be an opportunity for you to have your say about health and social care services. More information about this event will be available nearer the time.

Letting People Know about the LINk
The Cumbria LINk can only be successful if people know about it, how to have their say, what work it is doing and what changes have been made as a result of its work.   Cumbria CVS have already started to talk to groups about the LINk and making use of existing newsletters to promote it. They will continue with this work throughout the next three years. In addition Cumbria CVS will be developing:

  • promotional material
  • an outreach service
  • interactive web site
  • regular citizens’ meetings
  • media relations to promote the LINk through local press, TV and radio

Have Your Say
If you would like to contribute to the development of the Cumbria LINk or want to raise any issues you have around health and social care services, Cumbria CVS would like to hear from you. Please telephone on 01228 512513.
