Cumbria Compact - 2006

Voluntary Sector capacity building is crucial to securing thriving communities and services across Cumbria. This is supported by the Council through direct financial support to infrastrucuture bodies such as Voluntary Action Cumbria and Councils for Voluntary Service.

Support for the sector is underpinned by the Compact (download available below). A Compact is an agreement between a statutory sector organisation (such as government or the NHS) and the Third (voluntary/community) Sector. It is a framework of principles and commitments, and details how the sectors will improve their relationship and start to work better together. A national Compact was agreed in 1998, and local Compacts have followed.

The new Cumbria Compact 2006  was launched at the Pathfinder follow up event on Wednesday 11th October 2006 at Newton Rigg, Penrith. Speakers at the event included Ed Miliband MP, Minister for the Third Sector, Roger Bingham, Cumbria County Council Third Sector Champion and Joan Stocker, Deputy Leader Cumbria County Council.
