Improving the life chances and well being of children and young people

We want the best chances for every child, young person and their family in Cumbria to ensure that all children and young people will be kept safe from harm and that they will reach their full potential.

Invest in our schools through the Building Schools for the Future, Academies and Primary Strategies programmes.

Implement the children with disabilities ‘Aiming High’ project with our partners.

Involve children and young people in shaping our services.

Support young people between the ages of 6 and 12 to get involved in positive activities.

Roll out projects which support the vital role parents, carers and families play in improving outcomes for children.

Complete the review of our safeguarding procedures and reshape our existing services so there is confidence in our ability to protect and safeguard all children in Cumbria.
