In addition to in-person and telephone reference services Cumbria Public Libraries now offers a reference service by email.

The service is designed primarily for people who live or work in Cumbria but we recognise that the Internet is a global medium and will try to answer all relevant questions wherever you are!

What kinds of questions can I ask?

Any question you might ask at a reference desk in any of our libraries. That might include:

Information about the libraries stock and services
Book and Journal citation verification
Requests for brief factual information
Guidance on how to begin library research

We can, for example:

Look up dates, names, spellings, addresses, facts and definitions
Provide brief biographical or historical factual information
Answer your questions about Cumbria Libraries services and programmes

We will answer your query as soon as we can, or if necessary, redirect you to a more suitable source of information.
