All young people, from babies to teenagers are welcomed in Cumbria's libraries.
How to Join
We have a vast range of books that you can borrow, from board books and pop up books for babies to teenage graphic and manga novels as well as a large range of non fiction books to help you with your homework and hobbies.
People under 19 can borrow up to 40 books and 6 talking books for free.
We also stock DVDs, CDs, and Playstation Games which can all be hired for a weekly charge. Follow this link for charges
You can also use the computers in all our libraries for up to an hour a day for free. But remember if you are under 16 you will need your parent's permission - you can get a form for Mum or Dad to sign from the library.
As well as being somewhere to meet, a wide variety of activities take place in Cumbria libraries such as :
- Regular story and rhymetimes for the under 5's
- Holiday storytime and activity sessions
- Reading groups for different ages
- Summer Reading Challenge
- Homework clubs
