COMPUTER USE : TERMS AND CONDITIONS BOOKINGS AND INFORMATION
- 1. Sessions may be booked for a minimum of 15 minutes; details of charges (payable in advance) are available at the library. Please refer to the section on ‘Unacceptable Use’ below.
- 2. There is a separate disclaimer form for unaccompanied children under 16 years of age, which must be signed by the child and a parent/guardian. If this form is not completed children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
- 3. Please ensure that you have completed your session within your allotted time in order that all users can enjoy this facility to the full.
- 4. The Library PC's offers access to the Internet, which can be used for the sending and receiving of web based e-mail from personal accounts. No responsibility for the reliability of services offered by web based e-mail providers can be accepted by the Library. Please refer to the section on unacceptable use below.
UNACCEPTABLE USE:
- 5. You must not use Library Internet facilities to do anything which, in the view of the Librarian, may be obscene, defamatory, cause an offence or constitute an illegal threat or harassment.
- 6. You must not use Library Internet facilities to distribute, circulate, sell, lend, read or look at any pornographic or obscene material on the Internet.
- 7. You must not use portable storage devices (eg pen drives, floppy disc, CD's) or the Internet to access or distribute material which is obscene or portrays violence and which may be deemed offensive to other library users.
- 8. You must not use Library Internet facilities to initiate or propagate chain e mails nor must you send malicious , bulk or unsolicited emails or e mails containing viruses.
- 9. You must not use Library Internet facilities for illegal or unlawful purposes. In particular, you must not use the Library Internet facilities in order to gain unauthorised access to any other computer system (this process is commonly known as 'hacking')
- 10. If you do not follow these Conditions you will no longer be allowed to use the Internet or PC services through Cumbria County Library Service. In cases of concern, we will contact the Police, which may lead to prosecution.
COPYRIGHT: Please ensure that you have the necessary permission before you download or copy material. Downloading and copying copyright works in electronic format has to be performed under contract or licence; if you are in doubt please check with the information source.
I AGREE that I will not access or distribute material which is obscene or portrays violence and which may be deemed to be offensive to other library users or contravene law. I understand that if I do access or distribute such material I will no longer have access to Cumbria County Libraries’ Internet connections and I may face prosecution.
I AGREE that I will indemnify Cumbria County Council on a full indemnity basis (which means that I will reimburse it for everything it pays or becomes liable to pay) against all costs (including but not limited to legal costs) claims and liabilities arising from breach of these terms and conditions occurring during my session of Library computer use.
