Allerdale Area Support Team

The Area Support team works with the County Council's Local Committee for Allerdale to manage a number of devolved County Council services across the Allerdale Area. Development staff also work with local residents, community groups, young peoples' groups and businesses to influence and improve services and the quality of life for residents of the Allerdale area.

Partnership Working

The Allerdale Area Support team, on behalf of Local Committee, work in partnership arrangements with a variety of other bodies, including:   

  • The Borough Council
  • Town & Parish Councils
  • Other local regeneration initiatives 

Area Support is active in its links with Voluntary and Community sector bodies including, West Cumbria CVS, Cumbria Community Foundation, Voluntary Action Cumbria, West Cumbria Community Empowerment Network, and many other local groups who access or need support to access County Council funding through our Forums and grants panels.

Neighbourhood Forums
There are 12 Neighbourhood Forum areas in the Allerdale area that hold public meetings on up and coming local issues, and also make recommendations on  community grants   

Other Consultations
Neighbourhood and Community Forums also support ways in which local residents can become involved in shaping the priorities for their area, through community action planning and other participatory appraisal processes.
