18/8/2005 - A Level results positive for Cumbria

Students in Cumbria are celebrating today as they receive their A level results.   As the County results became known, it is clear that young people have done well.   These youngsters will now have the opportunity to progress on to further or higher education.

County councillor Philip Chappelhow, cabinet spokesman for children's services said:

“It is still very early days as we only have a general idea from our schools about their results, but the picture we are getting at this stage is that schools are pleased with the results with many schools reporting an improvement on last year.   I am delighted that the progress shown over the past year has been sustained in most schools.   We are proud of what young people in Cumbria have achieved and their success is a real tribute to them and their parents and teachers who have supported them.”
