25/8/2005 - Youngsters to benefit from new youth shelter in Ousby

County councillor Philip Chappelhow will officially open a new youth shelter in Ousby on Saturday 27th August at 2.15pm.

The official opening will form part of this years bank holiday gala celebrations on Ousby Village Green.

The youth shelter, next to the play equipment on the village green, will provide young people in the area with a place to meet and socialise. £1500 was donated towards the project by Cumbria County Council's neighbourhood forum for Alston & Fellside.

County councillor Philip Chappelhow, cabinet spokesman for children's services said:

"This is the result of hard work and commitment by Ousby Activity Committee fundraising for this project over the last few years. I am delighted that the county council has been able to contribute to such a worthwhile project. The youngsters in this area now have a facility just for them to meet others and socialise. I'm sure they will find it a great benefit."
