7/2/2005 - Neighbourhood forum keeps local issues at top of its agenda

The next meeting of Cumbria County Council's neighbourhood forum for Longtown and Bewcastle will be held on Wednesday 9th February in Longtown Community Centre at 7.30pm.

Cumbria County Council's area engineer for the area will be on had to listen to any highways issues and answer any questions residents may have. Grants to community groups will also be considered.

Chairman of the forum, councillor Donald Jefferson said:

"The neighbourhood forum focuses on issues that are at the heart of the local community. At the last meeting we agreed to fund nearly £2k to local community groups toward projects that will benefit many people across the area. We will again be looking at other grant applications at this meeting and would urge anyone looking for funding towards and initiative or project to complete an application form for us to consider. This meeting will also give residents an opportunity to flag up any highways issues or concerns they may have. Jim Smith the county council's area engineer for the area will be at the meeting to respond first hand to any queries or questions residents may have. This It is a public meeting so anyone can attend."
