19/1/2005 - Local Committee supports new parenting courses for Eden

Today, Cumbria County Council's local committee for Eden agreed to support The NCH COPE Parenting Project to the tune of £2000. 

COPE (Course tO helP parEnts) have been running in other parts of the county for a number of years and now wants to expand this facility to the Eden area. Seven courses will be held in Eden this year.

County councillor Gary Strong, chairman of the local committee said:

"These courses are for anyone who is responsible for bringing up a child and provides help and support on all aspects of parenting. Parents or carers can share ideas on what children need, what to do when things go wrong and how to handle and avoid difficult behaviour. Courses will be held in areas where there are already nurseries and playgroups so those staff can run a crèche so parents and carers can attend the course without missing out because of childcare difficulties."
