An investigation into the link between alcohol misuse and anti-social behaviour in Cumbria has been launched today (31 January) by the county council's Safer and Secure Communities Scrutiny Panel.
The Scrutiny Panel will investigate available support mechanisms and measures in place to tackle alcohol misuse and anti-social behaviour in Cumbria.
The Panel will be inviting contributions from a host of expert witnesses before publising its findings later this year.
During that time, councillors will be gathering evidence from relevant agencies across the county which they will hope will include the police, John Moore University and the health service, alongside in-house experts.
The Panel will look at the following areas before making recommendations to the relevant agencies:
- How well existing services within the county council and other agencies are working to tackle alcohol and anti-social behaviour.
- The development and role of the Cumbria Alcohol Strategy and whether the scrutiny review can contribute to this.
