Family Reading Fortnight starts next week (8-20 January) and to mark the event, Carlisle libraries are laying on a host of fun-packed events.
Whether it's attending a special story session or pulling on pyjamas for a bedtime read, there's plenty on offer for families looking to entertain children.
On Tuesday 9 January, Carlisle Library will be bouncing with 30 minutes of fun from 10:30am as children aged two-years and under join mums, dads and carers for a musical Baby Bounce & Rhyme event designed to help little ones develop their listening and social skills.
On Saturday 13 January, Carlisle Library will be laying on four hours of rodent-related fun when local author Bridget Trafford drops in to read from her first children's novel, The Rat's Tail. The author will be signing copies of the book, which takes readers on a magical journey of action and adventure.
The event, which gets underway at 11:00am, includes plenty of ratty activities and games to entertain the whole family.
Brampton Library is inviting children aged seven and under to pull on their pyjamas for a special bedtime story session on Friday 19 January.
Mums, dads and carers who bring their children to the town's library at 5:30pm will be guaranteed a riveting read from a selection of the best bedtime story books.
As well as pyjamas, children are also asked to bring along a teddy bear for the event which ends at 6:30pm - just in time for bed.
For more information on these and other events taking place in local libraries during Family Reading Fortnight, people can log on to Cumbria County Council's Library Service website at www.cumbria.gov.uk/libraries
