3/4/2008 - Art exhibition celebrates the achievements of people with learning disabilities

An exhibition of artwork produced by adults with learning disabilities goes on display at Carlisle Cathedral this month (April).

The exhibition, which has been organised by Cumbria County Council, features more than 20 pieces of work produced by eleven Carlisle Day Service users.

On display throughout April in the south aisle of the Cathedral, the collection is the culmination of 18-months’ work which has seen day service users express themselves with guidance from a local artist.

The finished result shows a range of different styles and images –all of which are available for sale as framed or unframed prints.

Adult Social Care Staff and Carlisle Day Service users will be at the city’s Cathedral to talk about the exhibition on Tuesday the 8th and 22nd April, from 10:00am to 12:00noon.
