To help promote next month's Walk to School Week, the campaign's 'Strider Road Show' will be visiting schools in Cumbria over the next fortnight. (17-23 April).
The campaign's mascot, Strider, will be meeting up with many of the children who will be taking part in the county's biggest ever Walk To School Week, which starts on 19 May.
Over 9,500 children across Cumbria will be walking to school during national Walk To School Week. Last year it was over 6,000, which saved 2.89 tonnes of CO2. So this year the county is going to be an even cleaner, healthier and happier place.
The Strider Road Show will travelling to the following schools:
Wigton Infant School, Longthwaite Road
Thursday 17 April at 10.25am
Alston Primary School, Garrigill Road
Friday 18 April at 10am
Brisbane Park Primary School, Blake Street, Barrow Monday 21 April at 9.30am
Heron Hill Primary School, Hayfell Avenue, Kendal Wednesday 23 April, at 9.30am
Judith Aris from Capita organises the county council's Walk to School initiatives. Judith will be at the schools along with Strider, handing out road safety freebies, and reading poems about walking to school that have been written by local children.
The poems are part of the the Walking to School Poetry Competition which is still open to young people; details can be found on the Better Ways To School website:

The first 25 entries will each receive free cinema tickets and there are some fantastic prizes for the poems that make it through to the final selection.
