Local author Paul Anthony, whose work has been described as 'stacked with intrigue', will be divulging some of the tricks of his trade at Penrith Library on Monday 8 September.
The free event starts at 7pm, and has been organised by the county council as part of its events marking the National Year of Reading - a national campaign designed to inspire everyone to read more.
Paul will be talking about his latest book, 'The Legacy of the Ninth', as well as his other books - including 'Sunset' and 'Bushfire' - and his life as a writer and publisher.
'Paul Anthony' is the pseudonym of a man born in Southport in Lancashire whose family settled in his mother's native Cumbria. He was a police officer in Cumbria and other parts of the UK for over 30 years and during that time received the Police Medal for Exemplary Service.
Now based in the Eden Valley, 'The Legacy of the Ninth' is Paul's fifth book, and has been described as '....a thriller mixing fact and fiction. Stacked with intrigue....' (The Cumberland News). Also a publisher, he will be explaining in his talk at Penrith Library how a book might be written, printed, published, and then marketed. Paul will also be asking the audience for comments on his new website, www.paulanthonyassociates.co.uk (external link)
Paul said:
"The website is a recent addition, so I am going to bring my laptop along to see what people think of it.
"Quite a few authors have their own websites, and using this at the presentation will break up the talking and give people something to play with at coffee time. Nobody wants to listen to someone droning on forever!
"I am also in the process of joining the Society of Authors and have been invited to do some other local talks in the Autumn, so I'll be looking for marks out of ten as well."
Tickets for the free event are available from Penrith Library, on (01768) 812100.
