28/2/2008 - Solway Coast Neighbourhood Forum

Solway Community College is the venue for the next Solway Coast Neighbourhood Forum meeting on Monday 10 March, at 7:00pm.

The meeting gets underway with the chance to help develop a community travel plan for Holme Low and Holme Abbey.

Community travel plans look at local travel and transport needs both now and in the future. The plans look at all aspects of travel, such as walking, cycling, public transport and the safe use of cars.

At the Forum, people will be able to outline what they believe local needs to be. These will then be put together on a map of the area which will be used to drive forward the Holme Low and Holme Abbey community travel plan, using funds that have been earmarked for local use.

The meeting will also be an opportunity for people to learn more about the work of the Solway Community Sports Hall.

Representatives from local parish councils will then give an update on issues and activities in their areas.

There will also be feedback and information provided on the West Cumberland Hospital and Cumberland Infirmary Foundation Trust consultation, the county council’s North Allerdale public drop-in sessions and the Cumbria Strategic Partnership’s consultation on climate change.

Local grant applications and other community information will also be discussed.

Free Fairtrade refreshments will be available and everyone is welcome. For more information, contact Neighbourhood Development Officer Pat Ackred on 01900-325013.
