6/2/2008 - Millom Neighbourhood Forum

The future of residential care for older people in Millom tops the agenda of the town's next Neighbourhood Forum on Monday 18 February.

Before the Forum starts, members of the public will have the chance to learn more about Cumbria County Council's plans to improve residential care facilities in the town at a special drop-in session with Adult Social Care staff at the Millom council centre.

The session runs from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and is an opportunity for people to raise any questions about the council's plans to replace Lapstone House with a new, state-of-the-art care home next to Millom's community hospital or on an alternative site nearby.

At 7:00pm, the Forum gets underway at the Millom Network Centre with another chance to comment on the care improvement proposals which are currently out for public consultation.

Later in the meeting, Nash Thakker from the Millom and Haverigg Economic Regeneration Group will talk about the future of the nature reserve.

There will also be an opportunity to get more information on Cumbria County Council's recycling centre consultation.

Feedback on issues raised at previous Forums will be given alongside an opportunity to listen to representatives from local groups applying for a grant, to share or publicise any local information and raise any other issues.

Free refreshments will be available and everyone is welcome. Please call Neighbourhood Development Officer Dave Smith on 01946-855022 if you require additional information.
