Cumbria County Council has today elected Bill Wearing as its new cabinet member for Adult Health and Wellbeing.
The decision was made at a meeting of the county council in Kendal today (24 January). Councillor Wearing replaces councillor Oliver Pearson who resigned from his position on the cabinet in December.
Councillor Wearing has represented Grange on the county council since 2003. Prior to his election today, he served on the council’s Adult Social Care Scrutiny Panel.
Commenting on his election today, councillor Wearing said: "I am looking forward to the challenge of continuing the county council’s drive to provide more choice and independence for users of Adult Social Care in Cumbria."
