9/6/2008 - Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service information day for under represented groups

Cumbria Fire & Rescue Serice is holding a special information day as part of its efforts to attract more women and black and minority ethnic recruits.

The event takes takes place at Workington Fire Station on Sunday 15 June from 11:00am to 3:00pm.

The special day is being held to give groups that are under represented in the Fire and Rescue Service the chance to learn more about a potential career as a firefighter.

Those attending will get the opportunity to try out some of the service's pre-entry selection tests and get advice on physical fitness.

There will also be a chance to meet some of service's female firefighters for a chat about life in the modern Fire and Rescue Service.

In addition, potential recruits will get to see firefighters performing a series of exercises, including a road traffic collision extraction, hose and ladders drills. A free buffett lunch is also being provided.

For more information, people can contact Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service's Dave Edgar on 01900 609537.
